VCSE support

Bid and funding support that works for smaller organisations too

Charities, CICs and other VCSE organisations are often bidding against much larger organisations without the same bid team, budget or spare capacity. We offer different rates for eligible organisations under £1m turnover so you can still get experienced support where it will make the biggest difference.

A practical way for us to give something back

We know how much charities, CICs and community organisations are being asked to do with tighter budgets, stretched teams and funding that is getting harder to secure. If your organisation turns over under £1m, ask us about our VCSE pricing when you get in touch.

You get the same level of care, thinking and evaluator insight.

We are not creating a cut-down service for smaller organisations. We are choosing to charge differently because we know the cost of outside bid support can otherwise put it out of reach.

You do not need to work out a special package first.

Tell us what you are working on and that you are a VCSE under £1m turnover. We will point you towards the support that makes sense and explain the VCSE price for it.

Volunteers working together and supporting their community
Why we choose to do this

Because giving something back should be part of how we do business, not something we only talk about when a tender asks us for our social value.

We work with organisations doing difficult, important work in communities every day, often with fewer people, less money and far less room for error than the organisations they are competing against.

We know how much that work takes, and we know that in the current funding climate it is getting harder. Our VCSE pricing is one of the ways we can recognise that and say thank you in a way that is actually useful.

It comes from the values we have as a business. We want Bidsmithery™ to create value beyond the work we are paid to deliver, so where we can use our experience to make high-quality bid support more accessible to smaller VCSE organisations, we choose to do that.

We want strong organisations to have a fairer shot.

A smaller bid budget should not be the thing that stops a genuinely good service or project from making its case properly.

We want the support to leave something behind.

When we review, advise or challenge an application, we explain the thinking so your team becomes stronger at bidding rather than simply handing the problem to somebody outside the organisation.

Being useful also means being honest before you invest.

If the opportunity is a weak fit, the offer needs more development, important compliance requirements are missing or we can see things that make the odds of success lower than they should be, we will tell you before you invest. From there, we can help you work out whether the offer needs strengthening first, whether another kind of support would be more useful or whether a different opportunity would give you a better chance.

“Melissa brought a sense of calm and reassurance that is so rare in the world of funding and bids. She has taken what can often feel like a stressful, high-pressure process and turned it into something that feels collaborative, empowering and even enjoyable.”
